Choices, Decisions, and It Is Starting to Getting Real

The contract was signed and the first phone call with the Publisher was set up to happen. I had a beaming smile and an excited heart.

The first phone call came, and then the second. I had a sheet with all kinds of things to figure out and fill in. I had more editing and writing to do, as well as the beginning of a whole bunch of choices and decisions to make.

It feels like you are at the end of a race. You can see the finish line in the distance and run with everything you have to get there.

My brain wanted to shut off and go to sleep but there were still many things to figure out and do.

“This is the last stretch.” I began telling myself. “We can do this!

As I began writing what should go on the back of the book, looking at possible book cover options, and deciding how many books to start with, my heart began to feel the reality that this book that I had poured my heart, sweat, tears, and all into was going to be coming to my house, into my hands, and into the hands of others.

I paused and sat with the Lord for a few minutes to thank Him.

The other thing that made all of this real was the constant pushback from the enemy of our souls. Satan has wanted this to fail from the beginning. He wanted me to give up and walk away, and he did everything he could to do that. The spiritual warfare continued on and intensified.

Obeying the Lord, seeking His wisdom for choices to be made, and living in the Spirit is not easy.

John 10:10 says: The Thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The enemy wanted to steal my joy in this process and destroy my hopes of this book being all that God wanted it to be. He wanted to do everything in his power to keep this message from going out and for God to use it to open the eyes of our hearts to walk in freedom from religious bondage and into a life of abundance in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

One of the most important things for me was the book cover and what was written on the back of the book. This is people’s first impression. It shows and tells what they will be reading about. I prayed passionately through this.

When I look at it now, I am amazed at God’s hand. It is definitely what it should be, and I am so happy. I can’t wait to share this book with all of you!

God is faithful in giving us wisdom when we ask. My small group has been going through Proverbs, and God continually tells us to seek His wisdom. His Word says if we lack wisdom, we should ask for it. God is right there, ready to give it to us.

I have had to ask Him for wisdom and seek Him consistently throughout this whole process, from beginning to end, in every decision, even if what He told me went against everything I had learned about being an author and publishing a book.

When I decided to go with an independent Publisher instead of seeking a traditional publisher, I was told things like, “It better be good the first time, or no traditional publisher will ever want you.” I hear things like, “You are ruining your chances of being a validated author.”

I went this way anyway because this is where God was leading. As I prayed about which way to go, He had an author I never met before reach out to me. She shared about this publisher with me. I asked, and He answered. I have no doubts about this being done how God wants it done.

Every decision and choice during this writing and publishing process, including the timing, has been prayed through. God has been faithful to pour out His wisdom and guide me through it. Soon, I will be able to hold this precious book in my hands, and the enemy can’t take that away from me ever.

Are there decisions and choices you are facing in life right now? Did you know that God wants to pour out His wisdom to you and help you with those?

Ask Him and see how He answers. Seek Him and see how you find Him. He is faithful!
