Crocheted 4 Change

My name is Kailana Nitz, and I’m a teen girl who loves crocheting products to bless lives and fight human trafficking.

I started my business, Crocheted 4 Change when I was 12 years old. However, the dream and the passion for fighting human trafficking and owning a small business started when I was younger.

When I was nine years old, I became interested in selling things I’d made. My sister, our friend, and I would sell little things by the side of the road, such as flowers, berries, and bracelets.

Soon, we started an online business, selling bracelets and giving a percentage of the proceeds to fight human trafficking, which was something we learned from my parents.

Sadly, we moved away from that state and had to end the business. But, I still had the knowledge of owning a business and the newfound interest in crocheting that my friend had taught me.

2020 through 2022 were big years for my business dream. During that period of time, I deepened my knowledge of crochet and sold it at a craft fair and to my mom’s friends.

I had many low times and many high times, but now I am so blessed to have grown into an Etsy shop and an Instagram page. I’ve had over 30 orders and given more than $400 to fight human trafficking!

I’ve also increased the percentage to fight human trafficking. In 2024, I changed it from 20% to 50% after doing much more research into human trafficking!

Looking back, I realize how far my business and knowledge have come, and I give all credit to my amazing God and my very supportive family.

In the years to come, I hope to give SO much more and bless so many lives with my products and the freedom that each order gives to those trapped in human trafficking.

I encourage you to research more about human trafficking and how horrible it is because not many people know about it. I hope to bring awareness to it with my story and my business.

In fact, I am also working on a human trafficking poem book that I plan to publish in late 2025.

Thanks for reading and supporting my business, Crocheted 4 Change
