Letting God Lead
The day was just beginning. I had my tea in hand, a devotional read, and my mind began swirling about what needed to be done.
The Holy Spirit said to me, “You are doing it again!”
Sure enough, I was going into my figure-it-out mode. My brain was already tired from running in multiple directions.
I paused.
The Holy Spirit led me to open one of my journals and write a prayer of surrender. I laid everything down at the Lord’s feet, asking Him to be the author of my day and my writing and allowing Him to take it all from me.
I have three journals right now: one for work/writing, one for ministry, and one for family. Each week, I write several surrender prayers in there.
God is teaching me to recognize when I go into the “figure it out” and “fix it” mode. He is teaching me to pause and write a prayer of surrender when I fall back into old patterns, giving it back to Him.
My heart desires to live, seeking Him first and seeking Him with my whole heart, mind, soul, and spirit.

This way of living is lighter and more free. It is full of His peace and joy. It is where I learn not only that His ways ARE higher than mine but that they ARE truly best even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment.
Do YOU struggle to let Him lead?
This is not easy, and it takes time to learn. We must practice, so give yourself grace as you learn to live this way.
As I continue to recognize the Holy Spirit revealing my heart in these moments, being willing and obedient to pause and shift my mind and eyes back to Him – He redirects me, and He will redirect you, too.
As you go through your days this week, pay attention to your thoughts, recognize when you are anxious, and ask God to help you pause and surrender it all to Him. Watch how, as you seek Him first, everything else falls into place.
Let’s do that together! I would love to hear the testimonies of what God does as you begin to live this way. May He be glorified in us all!

Thanks Des! This is right where I am in my season of life. I have found, when I begin my day by surrendering it to Him, He will give me those opportunities to be His hands and feet. It looks different every day, but there is a deeper intimacy in my walk with Him. I hear Him clearer!
